MEDITATION: A Holistic Approach to a Harmonious Relationship with Nature-This presentation introduces the practice of meditation as influenced by Native American teachings and the personal experience of the presenter. Al Striplen is Native American, a member of the Amah Mutsun Ohlone group centered near present day Hollister, California. The workshop demonstrates the important connection existing between ceremonial practices of Indigenous groups and other spiritual practices world-wide, and illustrates their applicability to meditation. The Native American Medicine Wheel, a concept used widely among Native American groups is the main vehicle used to illustrate how personal meditation is enhanced by understanding the deeper concepts embedded in the Medicine Wheel. If the setting permits, a brief guided meditation will be held with participant involvement. A limited number of handouts will be provided. There will be opportunity for questions and a live demonstration of the Native American flute used in meditation.
